ELDER RETREAT | need your prayers // March 08, 2009

Posted by Phil Taylor executive pastor

Once a year, the Pastors/Elders of Terra Nova get away for two nights for the purpose of spending significant time in prayer and planning for the next 12 months. This week Pastors Ed, Phil, Scott and Matthew will head up to a cabin in the Adirondacks (think 1970′s shack that has been expanded in odd ways and you have a good picture of where we spend this time). While we as elders meet most weeks, there never seems to be enough time to have the longer conversations about the big points on the horizon of Terra Nova. Getting away for a couple of days to a more remote location affords us the opportunity to do so. It also gives us a chance to bond a bit as leaders. Often times, when pastors from other churches get a glimpse into the leadership structure of Terra, the comment is often made that “you guys seem to work so well together, you really function like a team, and you actually like one another”. Retreats like this go a long way to keeping us focused on working well together so that we can shepherd/lead this church well.

Please pray for us while we are gone. Please pray that God would give us wisdom and clarity as we seek to put a little more flesh on some of the things that we believe God is calling Terra Nova to over the next couple of years.
