You’ve seen Jessie Neitzel’s work in the gallery at Terra Nova, as well as in several projects used for sunday worship. Receently, Jessie has been spending a fair amount of time painting the walls of a new sushi/sake bar on Delaware Ave. called SHOGUN. The restaurant opens this saturday night at 5PM at 318 Delaware Ave., Delmar.Â
Throughout Advent at Terra Nova, Jessie’s work framed our focus on Hope, Peace, Joy and Love and was featured on the screen as well as in Metroland for our Advent advertisements. When asked about doing this art, here is what Jessie said:
It’s been a while since I put together a body of drawings and I was excited and thankful for the opportunity to exercise that old muscle. I really enjoy making stipple dot drawings and using watercolor because they are mediums that are very meditative for me. They can not be rushed and they develop slowly giving me time to think and to feel out what my next move is going to be. Hopefully people had a similar experience with the finished product during church on Sundays. Advent and the holiday season can be very busy but it’s important to take time to stop, think, and meditate on the reason we celebrate this time of year.Â
