As you all know, Terra loves to see its artists creating pieces that reveal Christ and enhance the life of the congregation. Whether this is bands like Last Night Camping leading worship on a Sunday morning, or artists like Emily Armstrong creating art for Sunday’s sermon. The latest opportunity for songwriters at Terra Nova was the Advent Song Project. Ten songwriters were assembled into teams, given a particular theme of Advent (hope, peace, joy, or love), and were given one month to write and submit an original song centered around that theme and it’s connection to the birth of Christ. The songs were then presented to an assessment panel that listened to the recordings, read the lyrics and song summery, and evaluated everything from melody lines and chord structures, to theology and relevance to the assigned theme.

This Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent, you will hear the song which was chosen to reflect the theme of Hope. Your Guidepage will give you more insight into the song. This was a great experience for our songwriters and I look forward to more projects like this in the future.
