The area around Revolution Hall [the space terra worships in on sunday] has become hot property in the last year or two as developers snap up vacant buildings that were once factories and turn them into lofts, apartments, condos and high tech office space. Chet Hardin wrote about it in the Metroland here. The new Mooradian lofts a little bit north on River St. (just north of hoosick st. bridge) are already creating a buzz here. But, the biggest development to hit troy in a century in right in Terra’s backyard . . . well side yard to be precise. If you were to walk out of Revolution Hall and look to your left, you would see a parking lot, and then a giant old factory that has been turned into offices [Hedley Park Place]. If the developers plans go forward, that building will be added to, and remodeled. A hotel will be built, new office and loft space will be built, and the Troy Farmers market will get a new home in a new park in the parking lot next to Rev. Hall. Wondering where you’ll park on sunday mornings? Not a problem since a new 500 car lot will rise across the street. The drawings look pretty amazing. Granted they are at this point just drawings, but it certainly continues and pushes forward the trend of Troy as a great small city to live and work in. Check out the link here to see more pictures and drawing of the plans for the new Hedley District.
