Sad to say that my first reaction is to abandon anything that may be from a Catholic perspective, since I was brought up in a conservitive Reformed background. The good thing is that I stopped myself and embraced what it means and was able to bring a new freshness to the whole season. My wife and I are celebrating it together and find there is something to cherish and embrace from the past so we can use it in our present. Thanks for the insight on Lent. I do not want a huge mirror. My wife and I have been discussing Lent and what it means.
